The day I beat anxiety in my business
The morning our business bank account read $0. No overdraft, no backup just $0.
The feeling of having 4 clients cancel on us all at once, about $18,000 worth of work.
We had to come up with $13,000 just to pay our outgoings for the next month.
And we’d come off the back of two quiet months.
Covid hit us hard initially, and I was afraid.
I remember it was early autumn and I didn’t want to get out of bed.
I was lying on the floor in our lounge feeling this overwhelming sense of anxiety and dread.
I did not want to face the day.
This was back in the days before pitchr, I was working with my dad training clients but he was the main breadwinner in the business, he had all the contacts and all the clients.
He was doing everything he could to bring in work, and we had leads but people were afraid, what would happen with the pandemic.
The feeling of knowing that our little business was supporting two families, my own and my parents and knowing that I was powerless to do anything was a feeling I never wanted to feel again.
Have you ever had that same feeling?
I don’t have any work coming in? When I finish this job, what next?
Feels like your business is on a runaway train? And you’re just a passenger.
That day I promised myself it would never happen again, and I told myself, this is the situation that I needed because it forced me to get off my ass and do something.
If you’re struggling right now, this might be your challenge to get off your ass and do something or do more.
Things have changed alot since then.
I have an amazing group of clients I work with, I have recurring revenue in my business, and I have a pipeline.
But most importantly, I have a sales strategy (we call it the flow method) for looking for work before I need it.
So I never have to feel powerless or uncertain again.
If you’ve ever felt like that, stop thinking - start acting.
