Are you posting content that is boring, samey and adding to the noise?

(the following broadcast is said with the intention of changing your mindset and it's written with love)

I need to ask you an important question that may cost you a client.

I'm asking you this because I've been through this myself and I learned a lot.

I'm still learning!

The question is important because it can be the difference between if you see consistent growth with the type of clients you attract and the value of those clients.

Or if don't.

The big question.

Are adding to the noise or breaking through the noise with your content.

WTF hayden?

I'll rephrase (because I know exactly how important this has been for my own business).

Are you posting stuff just for the sake of it? just following what every other freelance designer on IG is creating?

Do you want to create content that appeals to your customer or your peers? (both valuable btw).

I believe we are creating the same content over and over and over and we all sound the same.

We do it cause we don't know what else to post or because we feel like 'the work should sell itself'.

In theory it should, but when you are competing against thousands of other great designers and illustrators you need to stand out.

You need to market yourself differently (just like you tell your clients) you need to position yourself in the market (just like we do for our clients) we need to convey our own unique USP.

You could have the best service, best illustrations in the world, best brand strategy process but if you can't market it well someone (sometimes with less experience but better marketing) will get those jobs instead of you.

I've shared some ideas in today's post to get you thinking.

I'm want this to shake you up a bit because I've been through it myself, learned a lot and and I'm still learning.

I'll be sharing some 'how to' on Friday on types of content but if you have read this far tell me - how do you feel after reading this? what is one idea you could take away and use to improve your marketing?

(said with love x)
