Shit advice I’ve had from Coaches
I heard this idea once that the absolute best thing to invest your money in was knowledge, it came from a tattoo artist called Tim Hendricks. He said that he spent as much money as he could on books.
It’s an idea that fueled my book habit and also my knowledge and skill acquisition habit - put what you make back into improving your skillset (NB: not just learning here but implementing and testing).
As a result I’ve done a heap of courses and coaching over the years and had some life changing advice that has helped me become who I am as a business owner today and who I will be in the future.
I learned from Russell Brunson, that if you focus on helping others first and helping as many people as you can - then the money will come. Don’t focus on making more money, focus on helping others do the same - give first with no expectations (that was how I took it).
Charlie Wallace taught me about the power of understanding what your market wants and then creating something for them - if you don’t understand your market then you’ll struggle to charge well, build your influence and grow your business.
Alex Charfen taught me the importance of having a routine, a process and a structure to my day. This set me free from anxiety and fear and actually gave me more freedom than when I used to write to do lists of things that never got done.
Taki Moore taught me to give away my best stuff, to be a good person and to show who I am as much as I can because people want to know that you’re a good person to work with as much as a clever person.
Mario Paguio taught me how to be more assertive, engage my charisma and stop being too nice (because being too nice never helped anyone) . It meant that I am a better coach and a better salesperson (and better person in general).
Ryan Bowles taught me how to look after clients better and that it’s ok to be friends with your clients.
James Kemp taught me that the faster I create a result for a client the more momentum it will create for them.
The biggest lessons?
You only have one life so don’t fuck around making excuses.
The faster you can learn an idea and test it the better.
Make time for your own creative work today.
